 Ken Orr does a demonstration of pottery making at the Fall Japanese Festival at the Fort Worth Botanic Gardens.

I can't believe I got this one handheld at 1/30th. I was sitting on the ground about 3 feet in front of him and probably shot 150 or so images of him making pottery. A lot of good ones, but this shot stood out to me as the best of the day. Shooting in burst mode really paid off and got this one really sharp image out of the batch. DOF is a touch shallow due to the wide aperture needed to get the rotational blur.

Pre-challenge notes:
I'm really pleased with this one and hoping for a 6+ on this challenge. I may be setting myself up for a disappointment, though. Sometimes it's hard to judge one's own work objectively.

Post-challenge notes:
I'm a little disappointed, as I thought I had an easy 6 here. I saw a lot of similarity in this to one of the ribbons in the recent "Work" challenge. Not too disappointed, however, this is still a good score and way above my average. I see from the voting breakdown that I go more 6's than anything else, and a relatively low amount of low votes. None of the comments have more than minor critiques, which is also a good sign. (I'd still love to know the criteria behind those super low votes, but that's not going to happen.)

Nice image. Nice detail on the hands and interesting colours. Good blur on the wheel and clay.

The hands are crisp, interesting.. the potters wheel is spinning, the blur is real.. and of course I always wanted to be a potter... well photographed - creative and well done.

Very saturated in the blues and maybe the reds... but a great photo for this challenge.
