 Taken from Wattstull Motel overlooking Purgatory Mountain near Arcadia, VA. Time was about 7:30pm as the last bits of sunshine from beyond the horizon was mixing with the night sky.

PP included a little bit of clone brush to clean up some hot pixels from the extended shutter length (30 sec), increased color saturation and color balance, some light dodging of the tree, some replace color to tone down the greens, and a layer of color efex pro to tone down the color gradient. Then resized, sharpened, saved for Web.

I know that it's a bit oversaturated and surreal, but I'm really pleased with the image and this is the type of thing that DPC seems to like lately (or at least it seems so to me). We'll see how it scores... It'd be nice to have a new image on my profile's front page. ;-P

POST RESULTS: So cool to be mistaken for AlexSaberi's work! As far as the tilt goes (one of my pet peeves too), the tree is on a very steep hill so I used levels on the tripod to make sure of vertical & horizontal. If it still looks tilted, I apologize... HA I thought that the tilt of the hill with the slope of the mountain in the background balanced themselves pretty well (with the tree's trunk establishing the vertical). Oh well - still very pleased with the results, the comments, and the favorites! THANKS!

Your Horizon seems tilted, just kidding... Great capture. These nighttime shots are something I have really wanted to start doing. Very beautiful and congrats on your 25th placement.

I like, but I think it needs to be either straightened or tilted more. This amount of tilt seems accidental to me. Very, very smooth transitions in the sky.
