this object either needs to fee the frame more completely and be less selectively focused or you need to have a better composition pehaps leaving a bit more room to the right....your DOF was fine from what I can see so it should have been OK, thought I really no idea what's outside the frame.

The shiny rust is very interesting, and I like the depth of field emphasizing the detail of the gear's teeth.
