Bob’s future son-in-law, CWII Justin Fletcher was shot down in Tal Afar on September 4, 2004. Justin suffered a broken back and other injuries.
A "routine mission" in Iraq on Sept. 4, 2004, turned into a raging 4 hour firefight for Stryker troops, as they fought off heavy fire in a rescue mission launched after Iraqi insurgents shot down a OH-58D Kiowa helicopter and swarmed to capture it and the two pilots, CWII Justin Fletcher and his commander Stephen Suhr.
