Very nice shot. Great job with the exposure while shooting into the sun.

while the sunset is the color of rust ... technically this doesn't meet the challenge ... great photo, however!

Why did you not straighten the horizon????????

A 4 because of lovely colors.

Lovely shot, but the competition asked specifically for rust, not rusty colours.

I like this interpretation of the challenge. I'm sure there will be those that feel this doesn't meet the challenge. Either way, great shot! Very nice color and yes, it is a rusty sunrise. The railing to the side with the dog is a great touch and gives this photo interest. Good luck with the challenge!!!

A terrific picture. One of the best I've seen in this competition so far. Great colors. I really like the dog - it looks as if the dog were also captivated by this stunning view

I'm going to assume the metal object is the rusty item. And thank you for giving my poor, rust weary eyes a break! Good use of rule of thirds, nice color, and I like the dog. I think it's a dog. 7

We have to assume that the railing is rusty, therefore really doesn't meet the challenge. In another challenge I may have scored it higher.

horizon is crooked...

Not really seeing rust. The challenge is Rust...so I don't think you've met the challenge. Sorry :(
Yes, I do see the color of rust in the sunrise and it's beautiful to see. The water is so still must of been a windless morning. The iron work on the left is beautiful and not seen much anymore. Elaborate.

I can't tell by looking, so I'll take your word that the rail has some rust on it. Very nice photo. It would have done well in several contests: Parallel, Silhouette, March Free style. Crop is just too narrow to give it a 10, so 9.
05/06/2004 08:53:05 AM
Nice, but we can't see any rust. Also the horizon is tilted
05/05/2004 05:21:20 PM
Pretty shot. It would be nicer if the dog's profile were turned slightly so you could see the shape of the head better. There's an interesting tension here between the sun and the silhouette. Think your stretching for the subject a bit much, though.

I relaly love this shot.

sorry, but i don't see the "rust" in this photo. it would rate very high in a sunrise challenge, but not here. 3

Color/toning: The typical colors of a sunset - nicely golden, warm, and inviting.

Composition/cropping: The horizon looks a little tilted, but the placement of the balcony and sun on opposing sides balances it out nicely.

Subject: I'm assuming the balcony fence is the thing that is rusty. Unfortunately because of the silhouette it's not possible to see whether the fence is rusty or not. It's easy enough to assume it is, but I dont immediately think of rust when I look at the shot.

Technical: The sun is a little overexposed, horizon tilted, but the dog and balcong is nicely silhouetted. There also seems to be some jpeg compression around the balcony.

Artistic: It's a very peaceful shot and I really like that the dog is included and not just the balcony. It tells a story and it feels like I'm right there.

Overall: It's a good shot but I'm just not getting the feeling of rust from it.

Beautiful sunrise picture, the dog there adds alot to it
05/05/2004 11:30:42 AM
Your combination of the dog and fence on the left, and the sun on the right is just beautiful! I see a winner here!
05/05/2004 11:16:42 AM
Very nice picture.
05/05/2004 10:44:26 AM
would make a better silhouette picture than rusted but still a beatifull shot
05/05/2004 09:37:14 AM
beautiful! Horizon isn't straight. It falls off to the left.
05/05/2004 09:25:55 AM
This is absolutely beautiful - my higest rated in tis contest. Great shot!
05/05/2004 05:21:52 AM
this is a rally nice photo, but cant see what it has to do with rusted!?
05/05/2004 01:34:11 AM
Horizon not horizontal
05/05/2004 01:18:48 AM
Nice sunrise framed nicely in a slim Jim mode. Horizon a bit crooked - and difficult to read on the left side.
05/05/2004 12:54:25 AM
Lovely!
