This is a metallic shaft found at a sugar cane factory. The photo was taken in the afternoon, with minimal sunlight as the sun chose that particular time to go behind a cloud.

Seems to me this shot was one of those that didn't immediately jump out to the speed voters. This is a pity as I think overall it is a good photo. It surely meets the challenge and the composition is great. Another possible reason for the lower score is the subject does lack a bit of the DPC wow factor.......

It looks to me that is slightly soft, I am not sure if this is because it was cropped or if it's a product of the slow shutter speed & high ISO combination. I may have reduced the aperture to get a slightly faster shutter speed, which should have minimised the possible camera shake.

I am sorry this did not score higher, I think it is a strong image for this challenge, but the score is suffering due to some technical issues.

Oh I like this one, I love the gritty feel, the choice of black and white is excellent. Nice macro of whatever this is. 9

Not sure what I'm looking at. All I can say is that it meets the challenge. This is a good thing, but overall there's not much to the photo. Good luck.
