 shot on the shores of the Salton Sea where the changing environment (evaporation) is causing the micro ecology to die off. Many, many dead fish lie along the shorelines.

RAW convert some layers with which to dodge and burn. several layers of a gaussian blur filter on layers. as well as USM on layers. Obviously some of each layer was erased. Easily within the margins of advanced editing rules.

Holy carp this is gorgeous. I love love love a composition that spirals around, even better when there are competing spiral motions. And to accomplish all this with chiaroscuro lighting! Amazing.

This brings back memories from my trip there last year. I still remember the smell and the flies.
