A single image captured with in infrared converted camera which helped me darken the skies and made the great clouds stand out- shooting almost directly overhead.

I have noticed lately that the pelicans seem to head out to the ocean as the sun gets low in the sky. Looking for some dinner or a place to spend the night? I am not sure.
Processing- uncropped.
I added a red/ orange filter to help with the color and boosted it a bit via hue/ saturation. Some levels adjustment, resize, and smart sharpen.

Thank you for all the great comments. This placed better than I thought it might. Other than adding the color it is pretty much exactly as shot. I was at first concerned about the birds being too close to the edge of the frame but like the way they lead into it. Taken with a point and shoot I could not really see the birds in the monitor- I just tried point towards them and panning with them. They become more secondary to the clouds.

If you ask me though, this was good enough for a ribbon. But apparently only sunset shots with a beach or an ocean included are good, and only beach sunset photos with motion trails on the waves are worthy of ribbons! :D Ah well. Brilliant work, terrific shot. :)

This is really cool, I dig the perspective, it feels a little awkward in an interesting/engaging kind of way.

I like how minimalist this is. The silhouettes of the birds are great, and the color of the sky, though it appears to be induced by WB or PP, is great in contrast. The churning clouds are really what make this though. The emptiness in the top right helps to draw the viewer from the top right on down through the photo.

I am enjoying how you removed everything from this image excpet the sky and birds. That elevates this to a higher artistic level and makes for an image that is easy to contemplate repeatedly.

I was voting when I said tomyself: "Some of these photos are quite boring..." Then you're photo came along, and it was like my life yet again was filled with joy and inspiration. And it only got better when I saw the bird 2nd in formation looked exactly like the batman-signal... Needless to say you got 10p from me!
