Yeah, I can't stray far from cats, LOL...So my goal of a new technique daily is pretty shot; the complex tutorials I'm interested take a while so one a day is a bit much. Here's my filler, my beautiful Batgirl kitty.
Processing in CS3:
Shadow/Highlight
Nik Color Efex Pro Tonal Contrast
Nik Color Efex Pro B & W conversion
Copy left eye, paste and set to screen mode to lighten
New layer, soft light mode, paint with white at low opacity to brighten both eyes more
Copy image, flatten all, copy back as layer into working image (which I NEVER flatten despite the painful file sizes :-)
Clone out house in background
Copy this layer & apply filter, OptikVerve Labs Virtual Photographer filter "moonlit" , then set to 70% opacity(and for those who don't know, this set of filters are free and fantastic! check here )
Copy layer, apply diffuse glow, set layer to 20% opacity
Crop, resize, save for web
Here is the original:

with the pose, perspective, and eyes, I would have almost sworn that this was a person wearing a furry costume lol. There is so much expression in that face!

Oh batgirl, what big ears you have!
The better to catch you trying to sneak up one me!
Oh batgirl, what big eyes you have!
The better to give you a look that will strike you down if you ever interrupt my prowling again!

ROFL! Excellent processing!

I think the eyes really make the picture. Nicely done.

I am going to have to try those filters!

Fantastic processing....such a change from the original. You've given this feline a real attitude.

OMG THIS IS TOOOOOOO MUCH . !!!
i loved your title, which was the first thing i noticed as a thumb .. then of course the excellent wide angle from that fantastic lens .. i love the distortion ..
then i open the pic and those amazing eyes jump right out at me .. the expression is something else .. you've processed those eyes into something crazy man !!! .. i love them .. they make me laugh ..
she seems to be saying 'dont mess with me' .. she has a very grungy feel .. like hip and cool and stuff like that .. there'd be more modern equivalents like sick but wotever ..
your photographs and processing rock colleen .. it's a pleasure to be in the side with you . :)
