Day 4 of Whatevers

I took Holly with me to scout a nearby park where I'll be doing a portrait session on Sunday. She was mostly a cooperative model ;-) I also played a bit with fill flash on this one, which I suspect I'll need for the real shoot, too.

PP - converted from RAW, levels, white balance, dodged eye, burnt ear, resized, sharpened.

_________

ETA: yep, she's an Irish Wolfhound. She'll be 3 in January. I also have a 5ish Wolfhound I found in the animal shelter and (this is exciting for me!!) I'm expecting to bring home Holly's half-sister in January, when the baby will be all of 2 months' old :-)))

Love how the natural lighting brings out some lovely highlights in these beautiful irish wolfhounds fur. Great focus with nice sharp details seen. I would have loved to have had the eye more visible to make it even more visually appealing- through the hair you can see some gleam from natural lighting that you may have even captured a 'catchlight' if the eye was much more visible. I like the backdrop of the woods which really complements the dog. One other point I wish to make is that I think you could crop the photo even closer to bring us closer to observing the beauty of your pet (1/5 off of the left side such that it is more of a head shot).

Nice use of the flash to bring up the details in the fur. It's very "texture-y" looking. Holly looks like a great companion.

Excellent job on the lighting! Holly is adorable, but I'm sure my cats would be horrified if she tried to approach them :-)
