Day 12 of Whatevers
I still had the extension tube and 50mm on the camera from last night and noticed this little fellow wandering around on the decorative beads hanging from an old vintage-reproduction lamp near my desk. Notice the little threads on the beads; apparently I haven't dusted recently ;-) Used the on-board flash (dialed down a whole f/stop) with its Puffer diffuser and the light coming in from the window.
Now normally I would squash an indoor spider, on the grounds that he doesn't belong in here near me, but since he posed so nicely I let him go. I may regret that; if you hear a blood-curdling scream it will be me finding him way too close for comfort ;-)
PP - converted from RAW, rotated slightly, cropped, levels, increased contrast, 2nd layer (Gaussian blur, erased foreground objects, merged in normal mode), added border, resized, sharpened. |

Heck yeah! I love shots that give you a little something extra! Spiders are always excellent for a quick shot. But, they can look menacing if captured at just the right angle :) |

Wonderful clarity on such a tiny little spider! The beads look very cool at that magnification too, I like it in B&W, makes you really focus on the spider. |

great shot of the spider .. they're very photogenic little beasties .. !!:)
and re the budgie and how they sound ..
i've had maybe four budgies since i was quite young, i'm quite old now !! .. so that's over many years .. !!!
anyhoooooo .. they learn to talk by mimicking you and you have to repeat a phrase or word over and over and eventually they will copy it .. once they start talking they'll copy other things you say .. its best to say wotever it is you want them to learn a lot slower than you normally would because when they repeat it they will speed it up .. pretty funny ... they talk higher as well .. but its very difficult to explain in words how they do sound ..
i just googled budgerigar talking and got this .. this budgie isnt as clear as our birds were but it gives you an idea .. the ping pong ball bouncing is amazing .. budgie talking
our last budgie who lived till he was 8 years old used to repeat my laugh .. its manic at the best of times and hearing it repeated back from a little budgie was hillarious .. he had a very large vocabulary and used to give us hours and hours of enjoyment and gut wrenching laughter .. i would recommend a budgie as a pet to anyone as long as they allowed it time out'v the cage to fly around and be part of the family coz they are very social birds and become quite attached to you .. :) |

Ummm... spider! Actually, they're kinda fascinating, but if I find 'em inside, I put them outside (or squash 'em if I can't find a good way to trap them.) Spiders belong outside. |

I love that your desire to create was greater than your desire to kill - GRIN!
Cool image. |

I'm with you on the place where bugs belong bit. But this really is worth the price if you find him again. Amazing little legs. |

Great discipline to see the shot and not react to wanting to squish it. I commend you. You also did a very nice job capturing this spider. |

LOL! I agree with everyone else. He would have gotten squished! He is tiny isn't he? Great detail! |

I never would have thought to take his picture ... my immediate reaction would have been to squish him! Great job with the b/w conversion and the composition is really good too! |
