 yesterday me and greg gregoryb went christmas shopping ..
greg said he'd been thinking of getting me a budgie for christmas .. i said i didnt want a present that gave me more work ..
we went into a pet shop not intending to buy a budgie .
funny that this photograph was taken at home not 2 hours ago .. lol ..
he said i had to give him a name because he was my bird .. i said charlie for no reason, it just popped out .. i didnt know but that was greg's dad's middle name ..:)

that area that looks a bit like a hole or something where his tail feathers start is his oil gland .. :)
hoping he's a he and not a she coz the males are the talkers .. he/she is quite young so its hard to tell the sex at this age .. altho i'm sure some experts would know .. fortunately charlie is a unisex name .. !!..:)

Congrats! Charlie will be very happy I am sure. He may also become the most photographed budgie on the planet. (This is a good thing) BTW, this is a great shot. I really like the lighting and antique feel to it. Spot on!

Congratulations on the new family member! I love how his feathers are squashed against the cage, and the orientation is very cool because I can't AT ALL figure out which side is up and what he's doing! Great textures thanks to your awesome processing :-) Hope he turns out to be a talker!

I like the intricacies of the shadows and lights creating those cage lines. I had to study it to figure out what it was. I like that. :~)

He looks like a he in the portrait-y shot. The cere (the area right above the beak) is usually blue in male budgies. There's your trivia lesson for the day ;-) If he does talk I want to know what it sounds like; I've heard it's kind of like a high-voiced robot but I've never heard one speak. And congrats on the acquisition; he'll make a fun model (and companion)!
