So we beat on, boats against the current, borne back ceaselessly into the past.
The Great Gatsby

Now that we've moved into the house we built a couple months ago, we let the cats have access to a couple of rooms in the mobile home that is still on the property. They get bored at night, I suppose, and love to rip things up :-)

Processing:
Orton effect --
Apply unsharp mask pretty strongly
Duplicate that layer, set to screen and merge with layer below
Duplicate the layer just created (screen + normal combination), set to multiply and apply gaussian blur about 15
Adjust these two to taste then combine
These are the basics of the Orton effect
...then...
Create duplicate, apply Urban Acid, flatten, and copy back into previous image, set opacity to 75%
Add birds, a brush I made from an image
Add my overlay grainy texture foundhere
Add overlay of orignal page of great gatsby, found at some university's rare book collection by searching Google images
Add old photo edge

LOL! Do you know how many blinds I go through in my front living room window? I always have at least two spares on hand. My dog eats it (it looks like yours when he's done) whenever I forget to open it first thing in the morning. He's so nosy and can't stand not being able to see who's coming and going. Maybe you should leave it open for them to peek out. LOL! Wonderfully processed!

Haha...yes I have a few destructo-cats like that too. Looks like they had a great time. I like your combo, with the birds and text.

AMAZING COLLEEN .. your processing of this photograph is brilliant .. and not a cat in sight .lol . maybe your cats are just out'v the shot looking up expectantly .. lol.. or possibly the broken blinds are a result of them trying to get at those excellent birds .. well in my imagination anyway .. :)

LOL! They're doing a number on those blinds. But I love what you've done with the place! I really wouldn't be able to replicate your steps, but I do very much appreciate you sharing them just the same. Maybe some day I can do some of that stuff. May try that Orton thing this evening, actually... Brushes I'll save for another day when I have more time and more active brain cells.

Because of the birds, I thought of this as a window. "D Then, what seems like an upside down bird caught my eye & held it. I like the way the writing fades in & out. Very romantic.
