My father. One of the finalist images for his author shot on a book he's publishing.

Processing was minimal:

Camera Raw - exposure, vibrance, recovery
CS3 - sharpen, curves, border, save for web

Thanks to larsogr for letting me borrow his Tamron 90mm lens. It's a great portrait lens!

Hello from Critique Club ;)

Chris, when I click that button says "Gimme an image to Critique" each time I hope to get photos like yours. It is very pleasing to look at your images, you are doing great job with humans, portraits... although your blue is a vase, it doesn't matter.

This photo, Technically very very good. I see absolutely no place that shines to burn my eyes, yet no place dark enough to take the attention away. It is very sharp and clean photo.

Composition is also very well done. The angle and the framing of your dad is right on the spot.

I really don't give a you know what for the subject of the challenge, but I certainly see "bokeh" here. Top right corner has all the bokeh one must see to vote nicely.

2s and 3s are not justifying this photo at all. No matter who says what, I am totally against the "Low Voters" mentality, they are just bunch of crackheads "think" they know something about photography... which they all should go a flip burgers, and give their cameras to someone who would understand photography :(

Good job, keep them coming.

Leo

First rate image. Excellent exposure control. I consider the bg to be an excellent bokeh! (9)

The title could be more interesting, maybe to make us imagine something with Jeff's look. I like the bokeh.

excellent portrait and good use of shallow DOF to provide an interesting and complementary background

A different kind of bokeh. There are plenty of photos in this challenge that use the "orb" kind of background as bokeh, and it's boring, at least for me. In this photo, I like the contrast of the foreground against the background.

Nice placement - I like the way the subject is entering the picture (and nice bokeh...)
