This was rightfully DQ'ed. I edited with advanced editing without thinking that it was an open challenge. It wasn't doing so highly anyways, so its not that big of a deal.

Your photo is good, but the title implies too much. This would have been just as if not more effective without the shoes. Simplfy, 8

I really like this picture but, to be honest, if I just saw it.. without the title.. I wouldn't even begin to think opposites. And that, of course, is just my personal opinion. It's very well carried out, and the clarity is really nice.

Cool idea of triple opposition! Left & Right; water & land; humanity & nature. A fourth opposition appears in the laces of tied and untied. The composition moves from clarity to blurred & black to white, bottom to top. The water focus in the middle needed better focus. Apart from this though, a solid shot! Better title: Sneaker wave! May a sneaker wave hit the voting before it closes!

Nice composition. I would have liked a little faster shutter, the waves are a little blurry. The shoes are very finely photographed and this shot works well including the background if it were about the shoes only.

I think it would be better w/o the shoes. Land and Sea would be nice alone. Shot is technically good; everything appears in focus and the contrast, etc. is nice.

Another one (like me I might add) trying to squeeze opposition into the title rather than the image. Being in the same boat, it works for me this round :-)
As for the image it's very ok, but it looks a bit too staged and centered to be really good. B/w whas probably a good choice though. Did you try a lot longer shutter speed on this one, blurring the sea out?
