I went out today to try out the present that wickee_one got me for Christmas. I went to the mall because it's nice and warm and the ceiling and floor have interesting patterns.

When I went to edit, I decided to look for software to remove the barrel distortion, but most don't have the lens profiled or the learning curve is more than I want to tackle at this moment. I also noticed that I centered myself based on the desk and not the actual center line, but after fiddling with trying to remove the barrel distortion for a couple hours, I just decided to let it and the slight rotation stay as I shot 'em.

In a mood, I decided to process it to death, and I think I succeeded. Of course, there's a layer of fractalius in there somewhere.

LOL at your description of the processing :))

It's really the distortion that makes the fisheye so interesting!
Hope you're having lots of fun with your new lens!

Oh, but it's the distortion that makes the lens so much fun! You don't wanna remove it! This is wondermous! And I think NOT lining up with the center line is the right way to shoot this. Gives it just the right balance without being overly symmetrical. Fun new toy!

Everything looks so shiny and clean - excellent use of the fisheye, as you got it to accentuate and follow the lines on the floor and ceiling.

WooHoo!! Who's a lucky boy. Nice pressy Amanda. Nice job with this image Ken. The distortion works well with the pattern of the tiles. Nice perspective and diminishing lines also. I agree about the positioning of the desk - you would think that center management would be a little more accommodating...lol

That is really fabulous. Gives us a kind of out of this world feel, yet in a familiar place. Loving the curve.
