This was my first real effort at a still life and food. I put quite a bit of time into messing with lighting and fabricating a backdrop. Not perfect, but it's interesting and this was definitely new to me. I dont have fancy lighting equipment, to this is a gooseneck lamp with a normal bulb.

Why a strawberry and onion? It was something I had thought of for the "Opposites" challenge, but I ended up with a better idea for that one, so pursued this for "Somthing New" since it was way outside my normal style and technique. I'm really happy with the results - thanks to DPC for stretching me!

I'd like a bit more light on the still life and more oof in the brown background. Certainly captured a duo that's not a cliche! :)

would have fit the opposites challenge. Not a real appealing photo though. Lots of noise and the background is dreadful.

Neat still life, toothpick in it?

Sorry, I find more here I want to change than I want to leave as is. I want the side of the strawberry I am looking at more well lit, I want a fresher strawberry. I want a different color towel. I want the strawberry lifted off the onion with a toothpick, preferably silver, and I want less glare on the surface of the onion.

Well, it certainly is not something I shoot all the time - interesting combination. Composition is fine - the "layering" of the onion on the right adds a nice touch. Exposure is good, but better front lighting on the strawberry would help pop the red out.

It's grainy, and the lefthand towel buckle is a bit distracting, but I had to give you a 10, just for the idea. This is the stuff I had hoped to see more of in the challenge!

Something new indeed. ;.)
A wee bit more light on the strawberry would not have hurt. 7

Now, that's an amusing juxtaposition! The brown background bothers me just a touch, perhaps because of the purity of the other colors. Good composition!

is this an out-take of opposites...I like eitherway

Good composition and nice use of colours. Strawberry can be a bit lighter. 8 from me although the combination has put my tastebuds off food for the day.

beautiful lighting. This image would probably do well in the "opposites" challenge.

there is a cast of underexposure going down the middle of the strawberry, detracting from it. the carpeted background is not very appealing. interesting idea, pairing these two together - definately something new
