NoScript is an extension for the Firefox web browser that blocks javascript unless a site you visit is specifically given permission to run it. Unrestricted allowance of scripting is one way that viruses and other malware can get onto a computer.
This is a collection of NoScript screen grabs showing various common web sites attempting to run scripts on my computer. some are blocked and some trusted ones I have allowed.
The sitenames in bold are the main site that I am visiting, while the others are coming from various thrid parties that are being called in from either the main site or are linked in ad banners.
As you can see, DPC is nice as clean, with the only other script being Google analytics, which is probably being used to monitor and report web traffic to the site. I leave it blocked. (Kudos to Langdon for keeping the site clean of crud.)
Flickr is also nice and clean, the only other sites running scripts being related domains that are also part of Yahoo.
Lifehacker has a bunch of stuff on it, however, including some scripts coming from Facebook. Noscript has warned me a number of times of cross site scripting attempts coming from facebook.
Bighugelabs is reasonably clean, except for the use of Doubleclick, which is a well known advertising site that often places tracking cookies.
