I took this Tuesday Dec. 30th. I had never tried to get a shot of Venus before and I found it was just as blown out as the moon is until I adjusted my settings for a short exposure. It had never occurred to me that Venus would also have phases like our moon does. So this is a very heavily cropped image. I also adjusted levels and used the clone stamp to smooth out the edges of the Planet.
Exposure was: 1/80 sec f/8 ISO 640 1120mm
I used the 100-400 lens at with a 2x and a 1.4x teleconverters.
Maybe the next step is to look at telescopes that you can photograph with??
