Note to Melethia:
No, that's not one of my photos on the wall. It's actually an oil painting done by a friend of my mother-in-law. This photo was taken in her living room.

the LB sure makes a regular snapshot into something much more interesting..

No matter what goes on around him, as long as he has his game, he is oblivious. Well, if it's a game that is.

I like the focus point and effect of the people around him.

The hands of the adult on the right really make this for me - shows the isolation of a child in an adult's world, regardless of the device shoved into the ears. Is that one of your pictures on the wall behind?

Those hands make the shot. She's about to remove the buds from his ears, look him in the eye, and say, "For the fifth time, put your breakfast dishes in the dishwasher". Been there; done it back in when Sony Walkmen were the height of cool. Really nice b&w conversion.

Great shot Erin and the image opens up to many possible scenarious. Cool print on the wall, is it your shadow or am I making things up myself now?

Nice - point of focus really highlights his isolation amid all that conversation and activity. Kind of sad, too, in a way.

Isolation, that's what this screams to me. The kid is tuned out to everyone in the room and completely in his own world. The lens adds to the isolation, keeping him in focus and the rest just blurring out of significance. Nicely done!

We all need to crawl into our own little world one in a while. This scene is repeated around the world, and certainly at my house. You captured it well.

I hate following Art. He says all the good stuff and I'm just left with, "Nice shot! Cooooool!"

Anyway, nice shot. Coooool.

I may see things a little different- here's my interpretation of the scene: The device is not an iPod, but the remote control for the robot on the right that the boy is preparing to strangle the man on the couch with. This is why they should put age limits or at least warning labels before selling killer robots to children. :P

I love the story. I almost feel like the child is shutting himself off from the world of adults arguing.

What an interesting scene! I love how the adults are obviously engaged in active conversation while mr. ipod appears totally oblivious to them :-) Lotsa stories here!

"Beware the Jabberwock, my son!
The jaws that bite, the claws that snatch!"

There's a whole story in those reaching hands that cracks me up with its possibilities...
