 I shot this on the grounds of the Purdue Cooperative Extension Allen County Office on the IUPU campus in Fort Wayne, Indiana. They had a lovely display of various flowers and plants, but it was this colorfully painted fire hydrant that caught my eye.

Thanks for all the wonderful comments. To the many who mentioned that this would have done well in the Abstract contest, I only wish I had known about this little gem at that time. That's ok... if it weren't for this contest I probably never would have found it at all!

This is really a fire hydrant? If so, amazing colors! They're so rich and bright. I wish I could see the whole hydrant, though.

Should this have gone into the Rusted challenge? The colors are amazing, is it rust or grafitti? By coming in so close, you've created a great abstract effect. Great shot.

Very interesting. I have never seen a hydrant painted like that. I think this would have done well in abstract. Maybe for this picture you could have taken a picture of the whole hydrant.

Very colorful, like an oil painting effect. I would have liked to pull back more and see more of the whole so I would have a focal point of interest.
