Thanks everyone for the great comments and scores! A PB for me and my first HM!
I think that I should have titled this photo a little more directly, because the effect I was going for was pasta so hot it was smoking, not just steaming. Most people thought that I was trying to show steam (which I probably should have done). My first idea fot a title, "Hot Pasta", has been used many times, so I avoided that one. Looking back I should have gone with something more direct like "Smoking Hot Pasta".

very nice shot! it sort of looks like the steam is just coming off of one spot though. however - the overall effect really looks good. |

I have to ask, did you drop a cigarette in the pot? :)Because of the look of cigarette smoke which is a little gross I will give it an 8 because I think the picture has great composition and lighting and I would have probably given it a ten if it would have been steam instead.... |

The steam seems more like smoke. It doesn't seem natural in this photo. |

good close-up. smoke looks too much like cigarette smoke (it probably is), white balance could be warmer. a little more light from top had helped. |

This is a great shot and could definitely be used as a stock shot. 10 |

hmmm...I don't think the incense stick works very well as steam. Otherwise I like it. For whatever reason I especially like that little gleam twinkling off of the utensil

Love the steam swirl. The rest of the shot is a bit dark. |

I like this over all except for the smoke. I realize that it is supposed to look like steam but it behaves in a different manner. It looks like maybe you were burning incense in the background. |

A classic composition with some nice steam captured. |

This would have been so much better with a lot of noise reduction on the steam (probably in reality smoke). Smoke highlights noise really badly, but responds well to noise reduction software like neatimage. |

the photo is good, the title not very good, in italian the correct title is "fumo di pasta"(smoke of pasta) |
