I loved this one for the subject and the lighting. But I'm curious as to why you left the trees in the background? I'm asking from a wanting-to-learn-more standpoint. |

i would have cropped out the bottoms of the trees, but thats all i would have done to this. contrast and texture in the leaves is great, so is the light on the little girl |

In the waning light of that Autumn day, she had wandered out to that spot. The spot where he had brought her so very often, to walk and to play, for a picnic in the sun, or snow-angels on a winter day. She knelt down with hat in hand, and gazed at it for a short time and remembered his laughter, his hugs, his stern reprimand for those times it was needed, the shine of his eyes when he smiled, the bark of his voice when he yelled.
She knelt there with his hat in her hands, and gazed to the sky and wondered what he was doing now. Was he gazing down upon her from somewhere? Was he thinking of her as she thought of him? The sun broke from the clouds just then, and shone upon her hair, and it seemed as if it was like a kiss from the clouds, a smile from the sky. With a tiny tear in her eye, she lifted his hat to the sunlight, and smiled despite that tear, and felt a comfort just then.
She knelt there, holding his hat high, and telling him in her own way that she'd never forget, never.
She got up, and hugged his hat close to her, and began to wander home, and her father would always be with her. |

she almost appears to glow due to the choice of lighting and processing - the b/w is a bold choice, especially with the possibilities of fall colors - but it does work to focus our eyes on the girl and her captivating face |

The tree trunks in the background distracts me a little. But for that I would have given it a 10. You get a 9 because overall this is a great pic. |

The tree trunks don't do anything but pull the eye away from your subject (the trail of light leads the way). Without them, it's a fine shot, and still very much autumn. |

Nice setting for this Great portrait. The trees are distracting. I would have cropped them out just at the base of the first tree on the left. This would keep the hilite that leads to the girl in tact.IMO |

I would have cropped the tree bottoms off, but I love how you have made thr leaves lead off into the distance, crisp and sharp, clean lines, excellent model and a brilliant choice in using the black and whites |

I go back and forth as to whether I like the trees in the background or not. It gives it more of a sense of woods, yet they are so short that they almost could be cropped out. Love the contrast, tonal range and focus. 7 |

I can't decide if the shot would be better by cropping out the trees at the top, or not. |

I really like this in B&W and like how the light trails out behind the girl, but I think I would have cropped the trees. |
