 Yes it’s a self-portrait and yeah I know ugly SOB but hey that’s life!! a face only a mother could love.

So what have I tried to achieve here!! Well let’s say that the personality I was trying to express is that of a loner or recluse who rejects companionship hence the snarl but in contrast I wanted to show a softer depressing side of an individual that was deep down missing companionship throughout his life.

Don’t expect much from the voters here I added way to much grain for your typical portrait but I think it adds to the reclusive nature of the subject. I also did a partial desaturation to try and show a pale ghost like individual and then kept the original eye and lip color.

My Prediction: 5.4 at best. Images that explore the depressing side of human nature don’t normally do well here but I entered it anyway more as a personal triumph.

I like his expression, and it goes well with the picture, a little grainy, but then again it could probably be the look that you were looking for. Great shot.
