First, this is a very good shot of the bird and the background combo. I like the way the texture in the rock matches the lines of the birds body.
I think that this bird may be an insect eater, and the reason is because of it's big eyes, which make me think that it flies in twilight or at night.
It's a beautiful bird, and looks somewhat like an American bird, the kestrel. |

Lovely shot. I love the harmony of colours and the echo of the bird's position in the angles of the rock face. |

I reckon it is the Brown Falcon, Falco berigora - the barring on the tail feathers is typical, but I am no expert on Australian birds! I would be delighted to have captured this - it is so exciting to see birds of prey in the wild. |
