Took this shot while on a fishing trip with friends a few years ago. Took many photos, and originally kept this in colour. This is my entry for the Archive Photo a Week side challenge.

I like the B&W and high contrast, although I see a bit of haloing, perhaps from the sharpening.

Oh yes, much prefer this crop and this processing. I love what this does for the water, and I like the fishermen in near silhouette. Sets a nice "fishing trip" mood to the shot.

Good choice to go to vertical crop. The processing makes it look cold (that's a good thing).

loved your original and love your processed version ..
so much more drama in your b&w and the different crop .. :)

The hard contrast b/w was a good choice. In the original, my eye is drawn to the low contrast details of the men in the boat. Now I am seeing the textures and details of the water, the boat, and it's reflection. I may have cropped it more off center, but that's a preference thing.

While I like this crop better, the people became just too muddy. I did a few things with the original (if you like, I'll send you the details).

I like both versions, which are totally different in mood. I do like the vertical crop, and you have really broght out the details of the fishing equipment. In b&w the texture of the water is much more noticeable.
