I spent so much time trying to catch sand hill cranes as they are nesting in VT now which hasn't been the case in the past..
Nicely framed of his long neck. Anxious to see them this spring.. |

For a drive-by-shooting this is pretty good! 5' tall -bloody hell, that's only an inch shorter than me! I love seeing these pictures of wildlife that is so totally alien to anything I will ever see here in Britain. Technically there is a very slight lack of sharpness, but I love the way the bird comes to the fore whilst keeping enough of the background to give context. |

I like the sandhills. They make the most curious noise when flying! |

Lovely shot. The crane is lovely and I like how his colour is echoed in the reflection. |

Pretty composition with fantastic focus and color on the Sand Hill Crane! I like the way he is entering the frame.
These birds are crazy, but you gotta love them! :) I see a family of three at least once a week on my way to work. They just stroll across the street like they own it! All the cars stop and people smile as they cross. I wish they would be more careful, but they have become accustomed to civilization and are here to stay. |

Great shot, Waddy. You are quite good at drive-by shooting! I've only seen sand hills once while driving to Sebring. Very nice shot; I like the bokeh. |

Real nice composition. The neck and head are very graceful looking. The DOF is very nice too. I've never gotten any shots of these birds in the wild, just zoo's or rehab centers. |
