That's a huge change from the original. I like the somewhat over the top editing compared to the plain original. Great job getting the perspective looking so good. |

Has a modernistic architectural advertisement kinda feel - something you'd see on a brochure. Very nice take from the original! |

Nice crop Colleen. Also glad you skewed the building so that it was vertical. One of my pet hates. The gold highlights in the pond add another dimension to the water and the rocks below and in this case I like the way you have blown out the sky in the background. It makes the whole scene very architectural and sketchy. |

" I wanted to make it look more like an architectural drawing than photograph."
You might go even further,, connverting to grayscale and compressing the tone range with Curves or Levels to find just the outlines of the structures.
FWIW, I got the juxtaposition of the lines of the buildings and the reedy plants before I read your comments. :-) |

Gee, what a change. You wouldn't think it was the same place, let alone the same photo. I love how the water has turned out, and that building has so much more impact. |

it is a brilliant shot ..
you've totally changed the feel of your original with this very 'sharp' and gritty process ..
altho if you were going for a more juxtaposition feel maybe giving the grass a more 'natural' appearance so it contrasted with your more harsh building might achieve that better ??..
i totally love glamour glow in color efex .. it gives grass and stuff a beautiful soft but still natural feel, depending on your settings of course .. its the glow does it i reckon .. altho i havent got cs3 open at the moment to make sure its 'glow' i'm thinking of .. its the slider above the saturate one .. !!!
i'm not sure about your crop, but that's probably just me .. i'd be inclinded to take in a lot more of the scene than the crop you've chosen .. the encircling buildings, the construction going on and then this island of growth which looks soon to be deleted ..
the sky is ok, but you could bring in some more dramatic clouds .. i've been madly taking photographs of the sky when there's something good to shoot .. i must look like an idiot with my camera pointed up into the sky without any land in the shot .. but i'm getting a great folder of sky/cloud shots that i can use to beef up a sky thats in need of 'improvement' ..
something threatening would go excellently with this scene ... to intensify that feeling of insecurity .. where there's building going on the natural land is definitely threatened ..
there are so many ways you could go with your original .. its so not dismal at all .. !!!..:) |

Really different perspective with the crop. I really like the colors of the building. |

I like the crop and the general approach. In addition to the sky though, as already mentioned, I'd suggest making the foreground grass softer and more natural like the original; the "contrasty" look as shown here makes the image look like too much is going on. |

Ditto what Kelli said, that sky would really enhance your results. |

Fantastic crop and great processing! You really brought out tons of detail. I'd love to see a version where you bring back the blue in the sky though. |
