No one was more surprised than me about the purple water. Because I was traveling, I edited this on an old Sony laptop. Besides being painfully slow, it is impossible to calibrate the display and I think the 4-year-old display's brightness and colors have deteriorated. I might re-edit it and post the outtake here if I have time.


Photographer’s Notes
On the north shore of Maui (Hawaii) is the Ho’okipa beach, popular with surfers for its great waves. When the wind blows the surfers away, the wind surfers come to play. Conditions today were 10 to 16 foot swells and 20 to 30 knot winds. Could life get any better?

BTW: The pictured windsurfer nailed a perfect landing after a 360 degree loop!

The photo was taken from a high bluff above the bay, a perfect vantage point I shared with a dozen other photographers all will long lenses.

Color of the water works well for me. Lines on the boards and sails are nice and sharp. Great capture!

I'm not sure if the water was purple when you took this shot or not, but I would have definitively enjoyed this one more if water were more on the blue, normal side.

dang, that is some funky colored water. is it really that color? is my monitor wacked out. (It looks purple on my screen, really purple, but the other colors look normal).
