I was one of your 8's. The colour gives an almost post-apocolyptic feel, and yet the tree still survives. The darkness of it makes it a strong focal point. Every time I look at the shot I first look at the columns, of course, but it doesn't take long for my eye to go back to the tree and stay there longer. Every time, even when I try to keep looking at the columns.
I like :)
eta after another look; the total blankness of the background, as if it's the ends of the earth, add to the feeling of isolaton and desolation.

Now when I look at this photo, I think to myself, this photographer decided to try something different. Something creative. I have a feeling that at least one person is going to say something similar to this. (The PILLARS are DIS..TRACTING my VIEEEEEEWWWWWWW). "OR" . (The SUBJECT of the CHALLENGEEEE is SUPPPP...POOOOOSED TO BE the TREEEEEEEEEE.......Not the PILLARSSSS).
:)
The tree is very nice and the pillars give this entry a lot of character.
Oh yes, I almost forgot to mention the voter who might say something like this......(You KNOWWWW, if it were not for that distracting LITTLE PEB..BLE... sitting RIGHT next to that bigger rock, this photo might have scored much higher.
:)
I hope this one does well as I will be scoring it high when I vote.

I like the idea of balancing columns with tree. Colors are a little wierd to me, but almost work too. The tree itself seems a little too far right and not a big enough focus for the shot. Just humble opinion... |

An interesting scene, the colors come off to me as a little dull and orangey, however. I think this might have been a great candidate for a nice strong b/w treatment. |

Sorry but the tree is really not the main subject here, IMO. |
