I think this is a great HDR shot, especially since you say you're still learning! Very nice detail on his skin. Did you lighten his teeth or were they really that clean? The crocs I've shot have all have icky yellow and black teeth! |

now that is fearsome looking! Not sure I would have wanted to get this close - perhaps having a lens between you and the beast makes one feel 'safer'? The low viewpoint is just what is needed, and the small slither of grass is the right amount for the alligator to be resting on in the frame. |

You can just hear him chuckling to himself for luring another photographer close to those big jaws of his. Good thing you had a long zoom with you! You got great detail out of this. |

I like the little bit of color around it's mouth. Almost like it means to show off it's teeth. |

Great shot, Robin. There is good detail despite the backlighting; the tone-mapping did its job... very nice. |

Glad you put safety first, and you still got the great shot. |

What a great smile :- )
You've obviously done a pile of work to restore the facial detail and done a pretty good job on it.
Did you consider doing a B&W version ?
Obviously personal taste - but where these things look so wonderfully prehistoric I think it can sometimes work with them.
Something like this ?
