Title from the poem, "Domination in Black." I have all these poems in my head and they pop out at strange times - sometimes I feel obliged to make a particular image and then, while editing it, it reminds me of the poem...

I tried all month to only use my 17-40, but had to stop today because a table was in the way. Such is life.

Shot in IR, multiply, sharpen, clone out a couple spots on the glass and some stray hair, shrink, canvas size, save for web.

This is quite captivating. The way the shadow crosses her mouth seems very prophetic. Tones are wonderful as always, and really create/suit the mood of this.

That's odd, because I gave it a 9 too, and the little red band says that mine was the only 9 vote.
Maybe there were a clutch of other 9s and 10s that somehow vanished? It would at least explain why this finished in a ridiculous 277th place!

very nice. I'ms surprised by the number of under rated photos at DPC those days.

This is a really lovely and absorbing image. Windows are so often something special in a photograph; they are the place where two worlds meet. And that's what I feel about this photograph ... that it's about two worlds, perhaps in conflict, maybe even in opposition. I feel certain, alas, that the shadows across the face, and especially across the mouth, are no accident. So it's a powerful and unsettling photograph.

I like the tone and lighting in this, I personally would have put her face in front of one of the panes rather than let the cross piece shadow fall on her face.
