This was taken without a tripod and with auto settings on the camera as she did not want to wait for me to spend time adjusting settings

I agree that it looks stretched. The original version was horizontal, when I rotated it the image was "squashed". I tried using the "free transform" tool. I've never had this happen before in an original image. I've used it successfully in many other shots; any suggestions how I could have edited it better?

Lovely smile. Unfortunately, the lighting is harsh and is very un-flattering.
The photo almost looks distorted.
Possibly standing further away from the subject and using a bounced flash might help both the over-all photo and the distracting lighting.

i like the facial expression you captured, but the lighting is a little harsh.. It also looks a little distorted vertically on my screen
