 The Image: We were privileged to watch the epic semi-final battle between Rafael Nadal and Fernando Verdasco at the 2009 Australian Open. It was a titanic battle that went from 7:30pm to 1:15am, and was the best match I have ever seen.

The great thing was we were in the President of Tennis Australia's Room for dinner with past players and celebrities. We also had premium seats where I was able to get some nice shots.

I took my 18-200 VR lens, but wish I had taken my 100-300 F4. In all, I wanted to travel light as I didn't want to lug around heavy equipment.

We had experienced a heatwave that week, with temperatures of over 43 degrees (about 116F), but this night was beautiful. Warm. Nice Cool Breeze. Great crowd and atmosphere.

The Edit: Just some colour adjustment and sharpening. This was shot at ISO 1600, and once again the low noise of the Nikon D300 amazes me.

Prediction: 6????

Post: UNBELIEVABLE! Top 10 with a score of 5.9. I am over the moon!

Superb...you should sell this one to a magazine. Great capture of that ultimate moment. Powerful. This is the blue ribbon winner for me. 10

Ps.I watched the match on TV. Great game. Must have been fantastic being right there. Something went badly wrong with Federer's mindset in that 5th set. Never seen the Fed break down like that and get so emotional afterwards.
