Sometimes you like a photo for no particular reason at all. That's how I feel about this close crop of an Elephant at the Philly Zoo.

This was an entry into the Posthumous 2008 Side-Challenge. I have copied the comments that were made during the challenge and I will attempt to 'paste' them here.

Thank you to those who commented.

I honestly can't think of anything to say about this. It's well photographed and tastefully edited but beyond the technicals I draw a blank...

I applaud the absence of an eye.

Tusk & trunk: An eloquent edit of elephant details.

a closed circuit. elephant as punctuation mark. I like the evocativeness of this.

wonderful technicals: texture, tone, color, contrast.

This is an elephant. I have looked at this image several times over several days and I'm not sure what else I can add. Sorry.

Certainly endearing. I applaud the truncation (bad pun) of the trunk on the right edge; had you included the full curve the image'd be a lot less interesting.

Wonderful detail in this closeup. Very well done.

Marvelous textures. Excellent detail, and I love the color tones.
