Waterworld
This is my second attempt at the infamous ‘water-drops-on-glass’ technique. My first attempt, “Home”, was an entry in the Something New II challenge. I used a photo of the Earth, downloaded from the internet, as the background. A sheet of glass was treated with Rain-X, and then suspended several inches over the background photo. I sprinkled water droplets randomly onto the glass, then made a few of the drops larger using a syringe. I set the camera up on a tripod that was positioned directly over the glass, then placed a directional 50w halogen lamp next to the glass, then covered the entire works with a black bed sheet to block out all ambient light. I used an LC-4 wireless remote to trigger the shutter for the 20 second exposure.

This is really interesting to me. The vivid colors and clarity are great. Like you are looking at through the world through a window after a rain. I like the abstract quality of it. Nicely done.

Why was it necessary to have 20 sec ecposure time?

Hi! It is true, great minds think alike. The water drop thing is so addictive, its hard to stay away from it. I wonder why mine didn't pop up when you searched, i better check my keywords..hmmm.

Hi Wendy!
No, I hadn't seen yours (honest) until just now. And I searched all over dpchallenge trying to find all of the water-drops-on-glass photos. I'm surprised that I didn't find yours. Your cosmic drops is really a nice photo. I'm a bit amazed that we both had such similar ideas--even to the placement of the background shapes! I guess it's true that great minds think alike, eh? :)
