A closer view of the male double crested cormorant. From what I read about them the crests are not usually apparent, but at least some crest is here. I don't know what double crested means exactly. Although I have zoomed in, I did actually get closer for this shot.

Marvelous patterns in the feathers on his back. Not sure what his expression means but he's sure not smiling!

Excellent detail and texture in this bird! Very effective sharpening, coming from one who tends to over-sharpen. Looks quite a bit larger than our Florida Cormorants which look a bit scrawny by comparison.
