Every now and again I print what I think are helpful things and every now and again I go back to them and actually use them!
This is my daughter Nimue. This was taken in Oct 2005 with my point and shoot. I had only just got interested in photography. I still think this is my best image of her even 3 years later!
Used Idnics move the light tutorial, plus a few hints that I gleaned out of threads. Two things that I wanted to do but could'nt was to clone those bits of hair of her face. It always looked so obvious would love to know how to do it naturally. Also i tried to use idnics pimp those eyes tutorial but I could'nt get the burn tool working, I think it had something to do with the layers, I tried dupe the background, dupe another layer I had made and making a new layer none of them worked. It makes me want to tear my hair out sometimes!

You did a very good job bringing this to life. I like the hair and eyes and it seems natural. If I were to nitpick the brightness on the forehead seems a bit uneven (noticeable when you click back and forth). It's just a nitpick and not a big issue.

Very nice work with the painting with light - you've brightened up her face very nicely, very naturally! I personally like the wisps of hair and wouldn't clone them out at all. As for the eyes, I think they look good the way you have them. (And you'd want to "dodge" them to bring out highlights, not burn them. You can do that on the main layer if you wish - I think Cindi recommends a duplicate layer so you have more control if you want to go back or reduce the effect.)

I like the editing, and the increased contrast in the photo. I wouldnt worry about the eyes and stray hairs, it gives a realism to the photos. Cloning out the hairs, and changing the eyes would rob the photo IMO.

Great natural portrait! She is beautiful. I really like your editing, I think you really brought it to life and the little hair make give it such a natural feel. I'd leave them.

I know what you mean about the stray hairs. It is almost impossible to eradicate them. However they are not enough of a problem to spoil this beautiful portrait, and the eyes are just lovely.

I like the hair too. Great job, how old is the photo?

I like it just the way it is. Those wispy hairs on her forehead is outstanding and I wouldn't change a thing.

You really brought this to life. I think the editing is great (and the picture is as well!)
