On camera flash doesn't help this image.
Try to ues a more imaginitive lighting setup. Either try to get your flash off your camera, or use window lighting or a reflector to make things more interesting and softer.
I can see you have gone to some effort to create a nice photo here and respect your effort to setup a plain background. I think Black is not a good colour as it creates a vacume that draws attention more than it should. Better is a plain colour or grey.
Crop is good and I like that you have gotr down to eye level with your pet to take the photo.

I had the same "problem" with my own dog, that the white part of the eye is showing to much. I solved the problem by click with a small metal-object on top of the lens hood to get his attention in that direction instead of his owner. She looks like a beautifull dog though!

I would have burned the bright spots in Daisy's eyes... or adjusted the lighting. Lovely composition and dog. Nice and sharp. 6 from me, but would have been a 7 with the eyes worked on a bit.

EDIT: Just remembered this is Basic editing. Guess it would have had to been the lighting adjustment. Bumping to a 7.

Her eyes are a little weird but I'm sure she's very happy!

This picture seems a bit flat - maybe too even a light being used? Shallower depth of field may help it.

The light on the top of the head is a bit much, but otherwise well done.

The eyes is what are lowering the score. Was it on camera flash?
