Add me to the list of rotators, but even as is this is one cool photo. B&W does it justice.

I definitely agree with rotating 90 degrees to the left - will make this poignant image even more powerful. I do like the strength of the textures - almost overbearing from the tree trunk but it works well here for me.

I agree about getting a different perspective or angle with this. But for me, as it is, the b/w seems to lack something, maybe contrast, I don't know for sure, of course. :) Just seems like more gray in the image that doesn't help anything really stand out. Although I tend to really like high contrast which isn't usually preferred :)

I do like how the birds head seems to be hiding under it's wing. It's a bit sad but poignant at the same time.

Very nice wood textures. The angle looks somewhat strange. Not sure how to improve this one. There's not much contrast between the bird and the wood.

It is a nice shot, and I only offer the below suggestions because you asked :)

Try turning the shot 90 degrees anticlockwise so the birds head is to the top and the wings are posed in more of a crucifix style.

Redo the B&W conversion, try it with different colour filters to bring the colours of the bird out more against the background, I don't know what your original colours are so not sure how well you can make this work, but from what I can tell there is a significant enough difference between the bird and wood to give it a try.

Try darkening the wood area, the brightness of the wood makes it more prominent than the bird which is really your focal point.

Don't know if any of that will help, but it's worth a shot!

Nice textures and I think you've done the best you can with the image, need to see the birds head to bring the shot home.

Not a pleasant sight by any means, but the play of textures is bang on excellent.

shame. I think you've done a great job and it's pretty impactful as is- think you've done the best you can on contrast and brightness levels- I even gave it a quick bash and couldn't improve it! Miss seeing the end of the tail maybe?

poor birdie...although it does make for a dramatic shot.
