Challenge: Centered Composition (Advanced Editing II)
Camera: Fujifilm FinePix S5000 Z
Location: Glasgow
Date: May 14, 2004
Date Uploaded: May 14, 2004

I took this photo while shooting production shots for a play called "Life of Stuff"
This scene is at the end when this character is killed and left to die in a burning building (it's not a comedy)

I had other ideas for "centre" but this was too good an opportunity not to submit. I expect "lots" of comments.

slight crop to centre the subject
Slight levels tweak

Thats it

I agree with the comments made by Mobius. The title could have maybe said a little more.

This could be a top 10 photo, or bottom 10. To truly rate this photo someone needs to know more, either from the title or some background as to what the event was. For example I would rate this photo low if this was a model and this is a staged photo. It would fall into the same caliber as the National Inquire, The Globe, etc. However if this was an un-staged photo, AND there was an equally powerful story, it goes from being simply a photo going for shock value, to a photo that holds some equally powerful meaning.

too graphic for my tastes, not even a good photo.

United Colors of Benetton? My problem with this type of shot is that all i keep picturing you throwing ketchup over your friend and the dry cleaning bill.

This shot is kind of disturbing.Nice lighting but a little out of focus.

I think this shot is a little bit dark. The hair has lost all detail.

Interesting take on challenge... although not normally a fan of word-play. Great special effects! Would be nice to have had more sharpness.

Quite provacitive, well staged shot. I may have gone with a little more front lighting to throw more emphasis on the victims head. Also I think this would have worked better in B/W for a more journalistic approach. Just my thoughts, still a very interesting shot (pardon the pun).

Gruesome! I was trying to think of ways to go "dead center", but didn't take the idea quite this far. :-) Points for the effort, although the shot is a little blurry, and with lighting that doesn't fit the mood.

A very origianal and pun-filled title. ANd it really looks real - yu must go through a lot of models! Nice exposure - and a bit mysterious.

I don't know exactly what this photo does or is supposed to depict, but I can say that of all the many photos I have looked at here this is the first one which I consider to be thoroughly tastless and to have absolutely no value whatsoever.

Gotta give you props on keeping with the challenge instructions to the letter...that's for sure! Just hope he's not REALLY dead, because then the site will be caught up in all that legalese inquest crud...

Technically fine, and yes centered, but the subject is neither telling a story that I need to hear, nor is it pleasing to the eye.

Shit - that was one heavy paintball! :)

Fun take.

Drama. I'll bet that was fun cleaning up. I admire your creative thinking. Top of the head seems oof.

i'm marking it down for not being able to see brain ... 1

(all kidding aside - it's out of focus, tilted, not centered, fake looking, and the thing which is supposed to be the "center" of attention is completely black with no detail at all)
