Just comes off to me as a snapshot, I'm afraid. I'm not sure what to suggest, though.

a little dark on the building (and I know it is in shadow) and the other thing that bothers me is the pole on the left...it just doesn't add to the picture...

Ah, D-Town. Just a sampling of what it has to offer. I don't feel like this pic really captures the vacantness (I don't think that's a word?) of the lot. I think a shallower dof would give this more depth, right now the pumps fall flat with the building behind it, at least for me.
