This is an interesting shot to me because we do not have these where I live. They seem very similar to the local "gackle" which is all black, but about the same size and shape. This has to be a very difficult bird to photograph well because of the total black and white in it's feathers.
One of my pet birds was making the sound of a back-up alarm on the local garbage truck this morning. |

Very cool! His expression looks intelligent; I have heard they are great mimics (which isn't necessarily the same thing). We have aggressive Northern Mockingbirds here which will divebomb anyone and anything that gets near their nests. Thankfully they're not as big as Magpies! |
