 I have a new respect for parents everywhere who create their own puzzles for their children - this stuff is hard!

My original idea was to do the entire photo as a puzzle. I quickly realized my gluing and cutting skills are not up to par - halfway through I realized it looked like utter crap. So I switched to just the one piece missing and the rest of the photo whole as a desperate attempt to minimize the damage.

The photo is actually a photo montage I put together with this challenge in mind, and then paint dabbed to create a painted effect and printed. The photo is my attempt to express not only the genetic 'missing link' between humans and other primates, but also the emotional link missing as we continue to devastate natural habitats primates rely on.

I'm really happy with the idea but I'm definitely disappointed with my execution. I really should go back to kindergarden and learn a few things. I'd be really really happy with a 6 given my uncanny ability to glue my hand to the paper, the table, myself and anything else lying around several million times.

Interesting photo, has a very stock quality to it for me. I think if it were a little bit less exposed, the edge of the missing piece would stand out a little more and I would like that.

Clever idea. The execution is a bit weak though. I think the puzzle piece, though in focus, is also tonally too similar and the "hands" to tiny to make an impact - especially against the larger and out of focus main bodies. Points for idea though.
