I can't remember ever seeing one of these in the wild. They are a dry countryside kind of bird, so we do not have them here in Florida.
Nice photo. He has enough contrast to stand out, even against the brown BG so that you can see the feather details. Maybe she had a nest nearby and was trying to draw you away. You were fortunate to get this close and that the light was so good. |

Great shot of a bird I only know from the cartoons. Still, I recognized it straight away. He has great camouflage so together with his running skills he should be pretty safe - provided his curiosity doesn't get the better of him. |
