 Been carrying my Lumix LX-3 P&S around with me this month, and decided to challenge myself by picking my Free Study from one of the shots with that camera. I have a vague idea of doing this every month this year (missed January already, tho), but we'll see how it goes.

I had a bunch of choices from going to/from work in San Francisco (some now posted to my portfolio), but decided to go with this snapshot from a weekend in Santa Cruz ... there were about 20 people crowded around taking a picture of this guy, and I was pleased I was able to get this nicely composed shot of him, handheld at 1/2 sec, with no one else in the frame.

Probably a 5.5 at best in a FS, more likely much lower.

Pelicans are the best! I love the clouds behind him. I think the large box or whatever it is tends to be a bit distracting though.

Composition is uninspiring and the lighting appears flat. I'd like to see more of the pelican's face and less of the structure next to it.
