I gave you a 7. I can't tell you why it got such a low score. Sometimes here at DPC there is no clear answer.
Hey I think he's eye candy but then I'm old ..so you know how that goes. :)
Don't fret it's a very nice portrait, print and give to him as a gift!!

Nice strong detail, sharp focus, some decent catchlights in his eyes. I'm at a loss as to how this came in so low. Maybe just too many people that felt it was a solid 5 and so the people who actually disliked it brought it down.

This one did not come up for me in voting, but I think it would have probably gotten a 6 from me.

You got a 6 from me. I agree with Judy's comment that it's a good honest portrait - maybe a snapshot to some but way better than the average snapshot in my opinion. I think one of the things that may have hurt this a bit is the crop - it does seem a bit awkward somehow. He's not centered, his eyes aren't "rule of thirds" (all just guidelines, but do have some merit) and it may appear better balanced if the background had been the same on both sides. Is it a keeper? In my book, yes. Great smile, good eye contact, nicely real.

I like how it's light on one side of this individual and dark on the other.
It seems to imply a split personality maybe. Very good portrait.

Nice honest portrait. I like the catch lights. I might've cropped it more on the bottom, just below his chin. :~)
