pretty color on the rose..might have done a crop without the leaves...they distract from you pretty flower and that alone could have "filled" the frame

Flower looks so good I might have even cropped the leaves and wall out of this one.

bold composition, needs an even shallower DOF 6

Very interesting choice. This would be a good photo for an ad about rose spray against the blight.

pretty rose, nice job blurring out the background

I like your composition and you've gotten a lot of detail. Seems a bit overexposed though. Would like to see it a bit darker with deeper colours.

Nice rose. Lacking a bit in clarity.

Good idea. I think the crop might hurt the score. Good pic.

Lush flower! Lighting is a bit off.

Lovely red rose in combination with the green leafs on the background. The drops gives some nice reflection.

Looks nice flower. I would have taken only flower, omitting the bad leaves and brick in the BG.

Colors seem a little washed out. Maybe it was a hazy day?

The flower is very pink and really dominates this image. Good focus and DOF

The red really pops against the background.

Beautiful rose. I would have love to see just the petails. I am not too hot about the spotted leaves and the brick background.

I'd like to see this one without the centered division between the rose and your background.

I see black leaf spot ;-) Very common around here, and I'm too lazy and/or environmentally conscious to spray. The rose looks really lush, though. You got nice depth to it.

pretty rose, but i think it could use some contrast boost and saturation adjustment. jsut to really "make" it

A rose by any other name... my wife's favorite flower, regardless of the thorns.

Good color and focus on the rose, though I do find the bricks and leaves to be a bit of a distraction.

Better spray that blight before it gets out of hand.

03/11/2009 12:51:22 PM
i like the off center rose, but the leaves and the background are a little flat, taking away from the composition.

03/11/2009 12:37:29 PM
The composition is quite nice. I wouldn't mind seeing just the flower though.... such great patterns going on.

A little to much sun I think for this. Next time get it after a rain or wait for some shade but the flower is a great choice.

you pushed contrast and saturation too far here. compsoition is unfortunate, the background rather distracts - could also have been avoided with less DOF

I like your use of the rule of thirds, but my eyes keep getting distracted by that holly leaf that's in focus on the right.
