This is HDR but not overdone. I am glad that I gave this photo a well deserved 10.

Nice idea and wonderfully shot. I think it would help the photo if the tractor had stronger colors.

Very nostalgic, I like the muted colors on the tractor - really adds to the "old" feeling.

Looks like the colors are toned down. Polarizer effect?

Really nice; I love old tractors. :) Wish that maybe the colors on the tractor popped a little bit more, but that's the only issue I can see.

A nice scene showing old times. I assume this is HDR? I'm not a big fan of HDR, to me this looks a bit flat and some parts look cut and pasted, especially the rear tire.
03/15/2009 10:10:10 AM
This is a really neat image. Looks HDR
03/15/2009 09:12:11 AM
good composition..

needs a liitle more dramatic post processing. to really lift this image, 7
03/14/2009 08:31:31 PM
I think this would look more interesting if the tracker was at an angle.. (like automobile ad shots)..
03/14/2009 08:30:42 PM
Nice! I think black and white might be nice here, or sepia.

Old faithful, we rode the range together
Old faithful in every kind of weather
When your round up days are over
There'll be pastures white with clover
For you old faithful pal of mine.

Hurry up old fellow,
'Cause the moon is yellow tonight
Hurry up old fellow
'Cause the moon is mellow and bright.

There's a coyote howlin' to the moon above
So carry me back to the one I love
Hurry up old fellow
'Cause we gotta get home tonight.

Old faithful we rode the range together
Old faithful in every kind of weather
When your round up days are over
There'll be pastures white with clover
For you old faithful pal of mine.

For you old faithful pal of mine...

After viewing so many overprocessed and oversaturated images, this rural scene is refreshingly straightforward. Colors are muted without being gimmicky. I like it.

This has alot of potential to be a really nice photo. Some saturation on the blue sky, maybe burn the cloud bases, curves adjustment and overall saturaton would help.

I really enjoyed this until I saw the vignette. Too much IMO, takes away from the image in the manner it is applied here.

OMG - a Ford Farmall was the first thing I ever learned to drive. Please PM and tell me the year - looks like maybe c. 1959? My grandfather had the lags for the back wheels. Oh, this is a fantastic memory for me, so you get a 10.

Ol' Frederick stood in the field that he had once tended with such care, in his younger days. He stood there, and surveyed his surroundings, with a tear in his carburetor and a bend in his axle, and knew that his days were done. They'd foreclosed on his farm. He had done everything he could to save it, but it was just a sign of the times. For 40 years he had worked this place. For 40 years he had provided for his family, the village, and had had enough to sell at the fair every year. Those times, however, were gone. Now it was all technology and corporations and time moving on.

He stood there and sighed, and a bit of smoke escaped his pipe, and he turned to go. To go and stay in the yard where all the old and disused tractors go. To live out the end of his life amongst his own, his dignity forgotten, his respect lost.

Such is the way that time moves on, sometimes.
