Challenge: Hidden Gem -- 1,000th Challenge! (Advanced Editing VII*)
Camera: Canon PowerShot A60
Date: Aug 13, 2006
Date Uploaded: Mar 10, 2009

My daughter, taken in 2006 - fairly small file to begin with but did what I could - One of my favorite pics because this really just shows who Eve is - she is such an extraordinarily original, creative and uninhibited little person.

Interesting burst of color in the forest, I think a little more saturation would make it po more and if it were a little sharper.

Image feels soft and I'm not sure that helps it with the current color tone.

Nice idea and there is a lot of potential here. I would have the parasol tipping fractionally forward to hide those parts that have caught the direct sun and have burnt out - then viewing the back sections with the brighter sections behind them could also bring out those warm colours to better effect.
I would also crop in closer on the right-hand side despite it throwing the main subject off the third - there are strong verticals in the trees to act as points of interest and it would also emphasise the point where the path disappears.

Need to boost the saturation a little to give the subject's colors a bit more impact. Nice shot all the same.

That's quite an outfit! Wonderful juxtaposition with the desat surroundings. Like the balance of thirds with the little girl, the central double trunk, and the wider space to the left. Very pleasing image.

I dont like all of the colors. The greens are to muted and its a bit flat. Maybe in black and white or a punch of saturation. I like the story tho.

Great idea, if you had boosted the contrast and the greens in the woods it might have been a more fairy-tale style

In the taverns they whispered their tales. By their fireplaces were the stories told. In hushed whispers, or nervous twitterings, were the sightings passed on from person to person among the villagers. The sightings of the little one that flitted in the wood, that walked amongst the trees, in colors like the rainbow. As she went, a light and haunting laughter followed, and her umbrella twirled in a hypnotic swirl. All that saw her were entranced, but she heeded no call. She only walked amongst the trees, always just out of reach, and even in the darkness would she shine, like a ray of sun in the deepest pits.

She was known as the Child of Prism, and was whispered about, and they wondered if she was ghost or spirit or something else entire, but she was uncatchable, and went down into history as a tale and a memory.

And ever her rainbow umbrella twirled and caught the light and brought wonder and amazement to all that happened across her.
